What is Veganism?

Veganism as a definition; It is a vegetarian diet in which meat, eggs, dairy products and all other animal-derived ingredients are not consumed. In some vegan diets, foods obtained by using animal-derived products such as refined white sugar and some types of wine are also not consumed.

The first use of the word vegan dates back to 1944. The definition of veganism by Donald Watson, founder of "The Vegan Society" is as follows:

“Veganism is the way to exclude all forms of exploitation and oppression of the animal kingdom and to observe life. It is put into practice by excluding meat, fish, poultry, eggs, honey, animal milk and their derivatives, living with the products of the plant kingdom and using alternatives to all commercial goods produced entirely or partially from animals. "

In short, veganism is the rejection of the use of animals and the consumption of all products of animal origin.

If they are vegan, veganism can be defined as people who adopt a lifestyle. Vegans do not consume animal-based foods, as well as non-food products that are made of animal skin, fur, bone, wool and silk, as well as synthetic fabrics such as cotton, linen or acrylic.

They also do not use cosmetics and household products that use animal products such as propolis and lanolin. They are not used by vegans in chemical products approved by animal testing. As a result, veganism (veganism) is actually a lifestyle. It does not only cover food consumption.
